Stockport School Buildings - Main Entrance View
I am pleased to be able to introduce you to Stockport School at this exciting time in the school's history. As I took over the Headship of the school mid-year in 2005, I was as impressed as I hope you will be by the dedication and quality of the staff, both teaching and non-teaching and by the enthusiasm of the students for their school.
This is a school with the potential to continue the rapid improvements over the past few years. With the new Specialist Arts College Status there will be even more opportunities for us to develop not only the academic achievement of each student, but also to enhance their enjoyment, excitement and interest in the whole school experience.
At Stockport School we work closely with parents to ensure that the time their child spends with us is safe and happy as well as successful. Parents are partners with us during the crucial years spent at secondary school. We aim to support you and hope, in return, that you will support the school in providing a stable, pleasant and well-ordered environment. Many parents find it rewarding to become more actively involved in the school through the flourishing PTFA or as a Parent Governor. Parents are encouraged to contact the school as soon as they have any concerns and are always welcome to come into school.
We also believe in listening to our students. Many contribute to various aspects of school life through the Student Council and, in their final year, as Prefects. Many Stockport School students represent the school through sporting events, academic challenges and charitable initiatives. There are many varied activities to try in addition to the curriculum, which is broad and inclusive. The students at the school are encouraged to discuss, to speak up when they see something they feel is wrong and to support each other. We believe that the young adults who leave this school are well-prepared for their future role in society.

I look forward to welcoming you to the Stockport School community.
